whereas, when I read Molokai, I didn’t know anything about leprosy. (Japanese immigrants during WW II - and the injustice of internment) I feared I ‘knew’ too much about the subject matter in “Daughter of Moloka’i” - ( speaking of the historical history): (melting/floating/dreamlike/heaven on earth/ love//love/love quality), that Moloka’i had.Īnd honestly ( lots of honesty in this review), it didn’t have it.*YET*. This is my second time mentioning my desire for the *MAGIC. The predictability didn’t bother me - but I knew I had two concerns: My biggest was that this book wouldn’t have ‘the magic’ that Moloka’i did. For the entire first half of the book, I ‘was enjoying the characters -but often felt I knew what was coming next.
